I haven't read the Times article yet, but maybe I don't need to now, thanks to your cogent and passionate overview. At first I was thinking it was as much a critique of the audience for these "non-critics" as of the non-critics themselves...but if all you've ever eaten is McDonalds you may have a bizarre relationship to food. Maybe I should redouble my efforts to bring good music criticism to TikTok? Also, 100% agree on the Wes Anderson and John Wilson critiques!
