Congrats on the milestone! I enjoyed reading your “writing about writing.” I also try to write as if I’m talking to a friend. It definitely comes across, in your case, and I appreciate it.
I'll return your earnestness with some of my own; I find that music is the closest thing that I have to religion, in it's helped me find community and I'm constantly carrying out various rituals, whether that's going to live shows or meditating on music on my own. When I write an artist profile, that's me in full on monk mode, illuminating some manuscripts. If that's the case, then you Josh are a bishop of this No Expectations congregation. cheers to another 100.
Thanks so much, Will! Reading Love Goes to Buildings on Fire was so formative in making me want to write about music in the first place, so this truly means the world
Congrats on 100 issues and thanks for sharing your experience! Fully co-signing the benefits a focused practice of new music/art discovery brings :)
Congrats on 100! Your King Gizzard deep dive was one of the best things I read last year

You're damn sure welcome. Nothing's more heartening than to know my writing inspires folks who inspire me in turn.
+1 to Josh's praise. I read King of New York in paperback this holiday season too, great book!
