Read about great recent LPs from Golden Apples, Lawn, Wednesday, and more. Plus, a 15-song playlist and a few gig recaps, including Goose at Northerly Island.
Great post. Really enjoy reading your thoughts on Dead, Goose and jam bands in general as I also lean more into that area. It is just something comforting to deepen yourself into a well of one or two bands rather than keeping up with a million great albums coming out (for me personally).
Also funny my wife is escaping real life by crocheting as I am digging through Dick's Picks haha
Probably in the minority, but I’m a fan of the 5 album recs instead of the usual 10. And as someone who went through a similar reading journey, I dig this weeks post!
I think you need to do a follow-up post checking in on your friend's quest to listen to every Dead show. That would have to change a person--by the end they're either enlightened or completely feral. Honestly, it's a brilliant idea that I wish I could operationalize myself, but I'm guessing your friend is way younger than me. Not sure I literally have the time for it. BTW, I second your assessment of the new Geese record. So good. A friend of mine turned me on to them after meeting the guitarist's (Emily Green) mom at a physical therapy session in New York (see above about my advanced age). Perhaps not the most conventional method of musical discovery, but it sure worked this time!
Great post as usual. That Wednesday album rips (it's going down in history as an all timer break up record.) I recently switched over to Tidal based on the organizing Chicago area musicians are doing to get off Spotify. Your Tidal link for the Playlist is broken 😭😭😭

Thanks!
That guerilla toss show was fantastic. All 3 bands killed it.
12:30 end time on a weeknight though, I’m definitely too old for that.
