I really enjoyed the Lala Lala album! Will have to check the rest of these out.

The write up about G-man was just beautiful. Reminds me of my home bar in West Nashville. Will definitely be visiting next time I’m in Chicago for a Cubs game

My grandpa’s in Green Hills, so I gotta ask, what’s the bar?

Oh sweet, it’s The Centennial over in the Nations. Their sister bar/restaurant Midnight Oil is just across the street and great too

Hell yeah, John McPhee. I'm rationing his books (I bought 'em all a few years back) so I don't run out too soon. Levels of the Game is a perfect work of nonfiction.

That LaLa LaLa album sounds great! Thanks!

Always appreciate the newsletter, but sliding into the comments to say: Wow, that 2016 lineup (Finom, NE-HI, Twin Peaks, Knox Fortune, and Whitney) is an incredible. Still in 2026, I'd go see that in a heartbeat. Well done!

Great post, as always, Josh. I'd love to run into you at a show some sometime! Here's my take on Price's terrific show:

I can track my hangs at GingerMan pretty closely to "frequency of shows I'm seeing at Metro." Still refer to it as "the last good bar in Wrigleyville" (Though more recently I'll tip my hat to Nisei Lounge).

Glad you mentioned your spotify snafu, because I hadn't realized / forgotten you're adding them to Tidal as well. Usually I've just been cribbing stuff to listen to on bandcamp, but a playlist is easier!

What webapp are you using for porting those out of curiousity? I do the same (though I shouldn't) for friends sticking to that cesspool.

TuneMyMusic—just watch out for random Disney tracks and metal songs

The new Friko song on the playlist is really good! (and the vocals remind me of the 2014-ish era Walter TV, of which I am grateful to be reminded)
