Nah I feel like I get maybe 20% email notifications of what i'm subscribed to in total...I guess the way I use substack is just to navigate the homepage and notes, but then I'm at the mercy of the algo...So I never saw any updates...but it did give me 3 playlists to work through of yours today, so no complaints :)
Hey Tyler! Not exactly, though I eventually hope to write something along the lines "An Indie Rock Fan's Guide to Jam Bands" or "What Indie Rock Bands Can Learn From Jam Bands."
Ah this is great. I always had a hard time connecting with the Dead and Phish but have been a huge fan of KGATLW and also really enjoy Goose so now I'm kind of moving in reverse. I will have to dig into those articles! Thank you!
It’s definitely a genre where the more you put into it, the more you get out of it. If there’s a song on one of the playlists you dig, rip a whole show. I bet it’ll click. Also, the Long Stranger Trip doc is a solid primer on Deadworld
One of the best playlists in a while. YNWA
Very annoyed that I miss out on these newsletters, then have to seek them out a month later-but it does then lead to a nice bunch of new discoveries!
Like Credit Electric, damn-right up my alley. Does remind me of all the 90's Chicago/Thrill Jockey stuff, mixed with Fridge or something. Wow.
Hey! Thanks for reading. Have my emails not been sending to you properly?

Right on! There's no rush. It sends out most Thursday mornings, but good music is good music even if it comes to ya at a later date. Appreciate ya!
Don’t consider myself a jam band fan, but I am a subscriber and I always find plenty of new tunes
I was at Saturday and Sunday in Chicago. No better place to be than at a Phish show. Glad you’re enjoying it. It never gets old.
Curious if you have ever done an intro to Grateful Dead (or jam bands) etc.
Thanks for the newsletter! Enjoy checking it out since I've found it!

My first essay on Sphere gets into a lot of the Grateful Dead's history and includes a playlist on some of my favorite live cuts available on streaming. https://www.noexpectations.fyi/p/dead-and-company-sphere-review-vegas-grateful
My Goose essay doesn't have a playlist of just their music, but it does explain their whole deal. https://www.noexpectations.fyi/p/seeing-goose-for-the-first-time-intro-jam
Also, while I wouldn't call them a "jam band" in the same way as Phish or Goose, my Deep Dive on King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard explains why they have clear-cut jam band tendencies and approach. https://www.noexpectations.fyi/p/king-gizzard-and-the-lizard-wizard-albums-ranked
Feel free to email or DM if you need guidance starting with any of them.
