I was at the Good Looks show at Thalia too and as you note, their guitarist was freaky good. I love hearing an album I've listened to a lot (Lived Here) played live. I wasn't expecting the guitar fireworks from Jake Ames. I gotta see them again!
And Ratboys was great. That was a great little Free Fest. The Cumbia DJ playing in the evening outside had lots of people dancing, a thoroughly happy sight
I’m excited to read “Such Great Heights”, and your description of reminded me of another “recent musical history”, Stephen Witt’s “How Music Got Free”, about the invention of the MP3 and how it opened the filesharing floodgates. Would highly recommend, might even make a solid pairing.

Ok Gelli is really something! Also one of the most awesome album artworks I’ve seen in a while, rivaled only by The Beths’ “Straight Line Was a Lie” 🦋

No, Chicago cannot have Water From Your Eyes, Josh! LOL. Otherwise, great roundup, as usual.
