Nothing better than a music roundup when you don't know most of the artists.. Glad you dug The MANIAC. Coincidentally I just landed in your neck of the woods to see FJM tonight (and the Red Sox at Wrigley), and I read Labatut's other book on the flight, more terrifying tales of the blowback from scientific breakthroughs.
I'd like to put in a good word for Greet Death's 'Die in Love' (out June 27th) that might have fallen through the cracks between the June 25th post and your Montana getaway. It's delivered by a Midwest band that sounds like they've fully hit their stride and seems like something that could march confidently into your wheelhouse.
I haven’t seen the show, but I did read and really like Keefe’s book. That said, I saw some pushback from Ed Maloney (the journalist who helped compile those oral history archives) after I read the book and think this is important context:

You're gonna love Salt Shed (and Wrigley!). Have fun! Stop by Gman Tavern before the game.
Will do!
Thanks for the Awning rec. And totally agree about Truth Club, stellar record.

I’ve read almost all of Keefe’s books and enjoyed them despite this, but this piece was a good reminder to not take everything at face value.
great piece! have had moloney's books on my list
Anyone who says gatekeeping isn't a skill should read this newsletter. You're very good at this.
The Maniac was my favorite book I read last year. Harrowing, but amazing and extremely engaging!
